This year sees another release of the increasingly-popular Football Manager franchise!
I was lucky enough to work with Grizzle Animation Studio on this project after MOX London reached out to us with an intereseting concept.

This year’s Football Manager trailer shows the importance of the choices the player makes; everything from signing new players to game-by-game tactic changes.
To hammer home this key game dynamic in the trailer, MOX focused on making the trailer interactive.
Alongside the graphics and emulated gameplay, this would give hopeful players an idea of what to expect from the game.

About the Idea
One of the main gameplay elements, and one the fans love, is player scouting in the game; everyone’s looking for the next wonderkid!
Every year, the trailer focuses on Pépite, a fictional player, and his journey through different clubs and leagues.
For the 2020 trailer, we follow him and his manager – the player – through various scenarios; everything from joining AS Saint-Étienne or Hamburger SV, to picking a perfect formation for the team.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Grizzle on this project, and we loved developing this interactive Football Manager 20 trailer with MOX.
A highlight for me utilising the actual game assets. It meant we could mix in real-world footage and seemlessly piece it together with animation and swift edits to really make the trailer come to life.
